One of my best friends is a law enforcement official with over 20 years of experience and is a head of a department. I have the utmost respect for what some law enforcement officers do in their line of work. However at the peaceful protest there seemed to be an undercurrrent of intimidation and/or harassment of Hawaiians by some law enforcement officers. I took some pics which are below.
First of someone who identified herself as a reporter from the Honolulu Starbulletin:

Law enforcement officers kept telling us to stay within the cones for “our safety” and I don’t state this to incite but it verged on the brink of harassment based on the national origin of Hawaiians:

My overall review of law enforcement officers that day was that they were doing their job. However I am female and I noticed that the male officers seemed to try to intimidate and/or harass the males who were peacefully protesting *more.*
Of course the local *biased* press showed only what they want people to see.
I will post some videos and more pictures later 🙂

E kala mai for posting his image here since he has very strong mana but it was refreshing to see Andre Perez at the peaceful protest on August 21, 2009. When I take pictures of other oiwi I try to take pictures from the side and/or posterior because I don’t want to capture their strong mana. It was awesome standing near Andre Perez. You can feel his strong MANA:

Ironically my cousin and I planned to stand way way way in the back but we ended up way way way in the front. I was going to carry Queen Lili’uokalani’s flag which is an HONOR but deferred it to my two nieces since they will be helping to carry the iwi into the next centuries.
I will be posting more pictures soon 🙂
