Petition Created By

Trisha Kehaulani Watson, J.D. PhD.

Petition Background

OHA has begun defunding Native Hawaiian health and education programs, while continuing to provide millions of beneficiary funds for Kana‘iolowalu. Despite millions spent on advertising and outreach, less than 4% of Native Hawaiians have voluntarily signed up for the Roll. Sign this petition to send a clear message to the Trustees that our top priorities are education and health.

Petitition Statement

I am Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) and I have chosen not to register with Kana‘iolowalu (the Native Hawaiian Roll). My decision in no way diminishes my inherent rights as a Native Hawaiian or the rights of my descendants. I ask the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to immediately cease funding of Kana‘iolowalu and instead restore funding to Native Hawaiian health and education programs.

To be delivered to: Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Board of Trustees

Mahalo to Anahola Defenders for bringing this to our attention.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is reportedly considering giving Kanaiolowalu an additional $1.8 million at 9:30 on Thursday, then a half hour later at the 10 am meeting, they are looking to cut the Nā Pua No‘eau budget from $1.2 million to $327,758.

OHA is literally taking funding away from critical programs for our keiki to fund a political campaign that less than 4% of Hawaiians have signed up for in their year of operation (which cost over $3 million so far).”

Instead of giving money to young Hawaiians to use for their education and/or to finish their undergraduate or graduate degrees they are wasting trust monies which is OUR money.

Kanaiolowalu Will Delete You Out of Existence Like How They Deleted My Mana’o

Kanaiolowalu Will Delete You Out of Existence Like How They Deleted My Mana’o

Earlier today I noticed that at approximately 1 p.m. Hawai’i time someone deleted all of my comments at the Kanaiolowalu Facebook page which is disturbing.

It is a hōʻailona. A sign.

My comments were civil comments. Fortunately I took some screen caps so that people can see that those in charge of Kanaiolowalu do not have an open process and they do not welcome differences in mana’o.

AFTER:

Look closely at their responses to me yet in their responses to me you can still see that they address me as “Lana” or “Lana Ululani Robbins.” THEY DELETED ALL OF MY MANA’O!

Let this serve as a warning and as a SIGN to ALL Hawaiians.

Do not sign up for your demise! They WILL DELETE YOU OUT OF EXISTENCE!

UNILATERALLY!

YOU WILL HAVE NO SAY !!!!!

Therefore DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!

P.S. Feel free to click onto the two images for a larger picture. You can see that they deleted my mana’o.

This is a sign that they will delete US OUT OF EXISTENCE !

Kanaiolowalu is Hewa

Kanaiolowalu is hewa. Even in its name. As pointed out by Mr. Adam Keaweokaʻī Kīnaʻu in his Blog Spot named “Hawaiian Historian:”

“To begin with, whoever decided on the name made an unfortunate choice. It is true as the Commissioner said that “Kanai Olowalu” means a simultaneous wave and could mean something akin to well spring of support. But Ka Na’i Olowalu was a name given to American sea captain, Simon Metcalfe. In this case, Ka Na’i Olowalu meant something like “The Conqueror of Olowalu” or figuratively “The Butcher of Olowalu”.

You see, back in 1790, Captain Metcalfe massacred the village of Olowalu on Maui for a misunderstanding regarding some stolen items and his son. This incident lead to Kamehameha the Great attacking the ship of Simon Metcalfe’s son, The Fair American. Kamehameha massacred the crew except for Isaac Davis who was spared because he was not American. From that point on, Kamehameha began to look at Americans as dishonorable and became predisposed to the English. It is another possible reason why the Union Jack still flies on our Hawaiian flag. So having an association with the Olowalu massacre even by accident in a name might not be such a great idea especially for those who know their Hawaiian history.

How you like dat?

It shows how inherently flawed and hewa they are. Only HAWAIIANS should decide our destiny. No one else.
